ライヴ・アルバム『Live at WOMAD 1982』からピーター・ガブリエル「Biko」公開

ピーター・ガブリエル（Peter Gabriel）が中心となって企画されたワールドミュージックのフェスティバル＜WOMAD＞。記念すべき第1回の模様を収めたライヴ・アルバム『Live at WOMAD 1982』からピーター・ガブリエル with Ekomeの「Biko」が公開



アルバムは海外で7月29日発売。リリース元はReal World。

ピーター・ガブリエルが中心となって企画された＜WOMAD＞は“World of Music, Arts and Dance”の略で、このフェスティバルの意図は、西洋の成功したバンドやミュージシャンに西洋以外の音楽が影響を与えていることを知らせることでした。

第1回は1982年7月に、英サマセット州シェプトン・マレット近くのRoyal Bath and West Showgroundで開催され、20カ国以上から60のバンドが出演しました

ピーター・ガブリエル（Peter Gabriel）、ロバート・フリップ（Robert Fripp）、ピーター・ハミル（Peter Hammill）、ザ・チーフタンズ（The Chieftains）、ザ・ビート（The Beat）、リップ・リグ・アンド・パニック（Rip Rig + Panic）、エコー＆ザ・バニーメン（Echo and the Bunnymen）、シンプル・マインズ（Simple Minds）らも出演しています。

Real World Studiosで2021年、第1回WOMADフェスティバルで録音された40年前のオーディオ・テープのレストア作業が始まり、これらの重要で歴史的なパフォーマンスを確実に保存するために、多くの技術的困難を克服しました。このアルバムには3日間のハイライトである全19曲を収録。CD、アナログレコードともに2枚組で、アナログ盤には1982年のフェスティバルのポスターのレプリカを付属します。
