イエス『Close to the Edge』スーパーデラックスエディションから「Total Mass Retain (Steven Wilson Edit)」公開

イエス（Yes）が1972年に発表した通算5作目のスタジオ・アルバム『Close to the Edge（邦題：危機）』。5CD＋1LP＋1 Blu-rayの7枚組スーパー・デラックス・エディションから、レア音源集に収録されている「Total Mass Retain (Steven Wilson Edit)」が先行公開されています。
このエディションは海外で3月7日発売。輸入盤国内仕様の日本盤は3月19日発売。リイシュー元はRhino。
CD1とLPには、『Close to the Edge』オリジナル・アルバムの最新リマスター・ヴァージョンを収録。
Blu-rayには、『Close to the Edge』のスティーヴン・ウィルソン（Steven Wilson）による2025ミックスのドルビーアトモスと5.1ミックスDTS-HD MAが初めて収録されます。
CD2には、『Close to the Edge』のウィルソンによる2025リミックスとインストゥルメンタル・ヴァージョンを収録。
CD3には、未発表音源を含むレア音源を収録。ラフ・ミックスや別ヴァージョンに加え、スティーヴン・ウィルソンによる未発表エディット・ヴァージョン3曲なども収録。
CD4と5には、1972年12月16日に英ロンドンのTHE RAINBOWで行ったコンサートの未発表ライヴ音源が2枚のディスクにわたって収録されており、『Close to the Edge』ツアー中の絶頂期のバンドの姿を捉えています。
日本盤には、当時のアーティスト写真をレイアウトした特製B2サイズ・ポスターが付属されます。
スティーヴ・ハウは、今作についてこうコメントしています。
「『危機』は、イエスにとって最も奇跡的な作品だ。ここには私たちにとって初となる20分を超える大作が収録されていて、この曲は、後に発表していく長尺で大規模な楽曲たちの雛形となっていった。同様に、最高の音楽的かつ技術的な完成度を捉えた10分に及ぶ楽曲も2曲収録されている。前作『こわれもの（原題: FRAGILE）』でのレコーディング経験が、イエスというバンドのキャリアを決定づける重要な意味を持つ『危機』というアルバムを作ることを可能にしたのだろう」
