キング・クリムゾン『Red』50周年記念　エレメンタル・ミックスがストリーミング配信開始

キング・クリムゾン（King Crimson）が1974年のリリースしたスタジオ・アルバム『Red』。発売50周年を記念した50thアニヴァーサリー・エディションの発売にあわせ、同エディションにも収録されている、アルバム全曲分のエレメンタル・ミックスがストリーミング配信開始。





このエディションは海外で10月25日発売。リイシュー元はDGM／Panegyric。

50thアニヴァーサリー・エディションは、4枚組ボックスセット（2CD＋2Blu-ray）と、2枚組200グラムLPレコード・エディションがあります。

■4枚組ボックスセット（2CD＋2Blu-ray）

このエディションには、スティーヴン・ウィルソン（Steven Wilson）による全く新しいドルビーアトモス、5.1 DTS-HDマスターオーディオサラウンド＆ステレオミックスを収録。

スティーヴンは2009年に『Red』のミックスを手がけています。これはスティーヴンが手掛けた初期のミックスのひとつであり、キング・クリムゾンは、スティーヴンによってミックスされた数多くのクラシック・バンドやアーティストの最初の作品でした。

スティーヴン：
「『Red』で聴けるのは、72～74年当時のラインナップをスタジオで最もよく表現したものだ。事実上、これはパワートリオのアルバムであり、彼らのサウンドはまさに巨大だ」

また、長年のキング・クリムゾンのプロデューサー（兼バンド・マネージャー）であるデヴィッド・シングルトンによるアルバム全曲分のエレメンタル・ミックスも収録されます。これは、オリジナルのマルチトラック・レコーディングを使用することで、楽器の分離を高め、オリジナル・ミックスには含まれていないものの、このアルバムのために録音された多くの要素を利用することで、アルバムのまったく異なるオーディオイメージを提示しています。

キング・クリムゾンの伝記作家シド・スミスは、このアルバムの新しいライナーノーツで次のように述べています。

「デヴィッド・シングルトンのエレメンタル・ミックスは、オリジナル・セッションのベールを取り払い、一種のオルタナティブな説明、あり得たかもしれない『Red』として機能しており、バンドが行った様々なパスやテイク、そして（メル）コリンズ、（マーク）チャリグ、（イアン）マクドナルドが素材に取り組んだことを明らかにしている」

Blu-rayには、1974年の米国ツアーからのオーディオ修復されたブートレグ・コンサート録音と、1974年7月1日にニューヨークのセントラルパークで行われたバンドの米国公演のオーディオ修復されたブートレグという形で、この時代のライヴ音源が収録されています。

このボックスセットのディスクに収録された複数の新規トラックとスタジオ・テイクもミックスおよび/またはマスタリングされており、このアルバムの最も包括的な作品となっています。

- LP1にはスティーヴン・ウィルソンによる2024ステレオ・ミックスを収録。
- LP2にはデヴィッド・シングルトンによる2024エレメンタル・ミックスを収録。
- カットはLoud Masteringのジェイソン・ミッチェルが担当。

ドルビーアトモスのためにアルバムをミックスする一方で、スティーヴン・ウィルソンは新しいステレオ＆5.1ミックスも準備しました。これらの新しいステレオ・ミックスは、この2枚組LPのLP1に収録されます。

LP2はデイヴィッド・シングルトンによるアルバム全曲分のエレメンタル・ミックスで構成されています。
