ジョニ・ミッチェル（Joni Mitchell）のアーカイヴ・シリーズの新作『Archives, Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980)』が海外で10月4日、日本で10月23日に発売。アナログレコード（海外のみ）は4枚組、CDは6枚組。デジタルでもリリースされます。リリース元はRhino。

2020年にスタートしたオフィシャル・アーカイヴ・シリーズ『Archives』の第4弾。

今回は1976年から1980年をフィーチャーしており、ミッチェルが『Hejira』（1976年）、『Don Juan's Reckless Daughter』（1977年）、『Mingus』（1979年／チャールズ・ミンガスとのコラボレーション）、『Shadows and Light』（1980年／ライヴ・アルバムをリリースした時代の未発表のスタジオ・セッション、デモ、別ヴァージョン、数々のライヴ録音などが収録されています。

フィジカル・エディションには、未公開写真、ライナーノーツ、ミッチェルとキャメロン・クロウ監督の対談が掲載された36ページの本も付属されます。

この作品から、1975年にモントリオールで録音された「Coyote」のライヴ・ヴァージョンが聴けます。
