『スーパーマリオ』のテーマ、レッド・ツェッペリン、ジョン・レノン、マドンナ、ポリス、CSNY他　米議会図書館による重要録音物に新規保存決定

アメリカ議会図書館が文化的、歴史的、芸術的に重要な録音物を保存することを目的に行っている「全米録音資料登録簿（National Recording Registry）」。新たに保存が決定した作品が発表されています。

2000年より開始された本制度には、少なくとも10年以上経った録音物を対象に、毎年25点ずつ選ばれています。

新たに保存が決定したのは、シングルは

レッド・ツェッペリンの「Stairway to Heaven」
ジョン・レノンの「Imagine」
ユーリズミックスの「Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)」
マドンナの「Like a Virgin」
マライア・キャリーの「All I Want for Christmas is You」
アイリーン・キャラの「Flashdance... What a Feeling」

など。アルバムは

ポリスの『Synchronicity』
クロスビー、スティルス、ナッシュ＆ヤングの『Deja Vu』

など。

また、近藤浩治が作曲した『スーパーマリオブラザーズ』のテーマが、ビデオゲームのサウンドトラックとして初めて登録されました。近藤は「この音楽が他の多くの名曲と一緒に保存されることは、とても光栄なことです。実際には少し信じがたいことですが」とコメントしています。
