アル・ヤンコビック新曲リリース　伝記映画『Weird: The Al Yankovic Story』サントラ収録

パロディ音楽家アル・ヤンコビック（"Weird Al" Yankovic）の伝記映画『Weird: The Al Yankovic Story』。公開にあわせ、サウンドトラック・アルバムがリリース。アルが自身の楽曲を新録したヴァージョンや、エンドクレジットで流れる新曲「Now You Know」も収録されています。ストリーミング配信中です。





『Weird: The Al Yankovic Story』でヤンコビック役を務めるのは『ハリー・ポッター』シリーズで知られるダニエル・ラドクリフです。

この映画は米国のRoku Channelで11月4日に配信が開始されています。

映画はヤンコビック自身がエリック・アペルとともに脚本を書き、監督も務めます。ヤンコビックはこのほか、プロデューサー、主題歌を担当します。

映画はFunny or DieとTangoが共同プロデュースしています。

ラドクリフのほか、マドンナ役のエヴァン・レイチェル・ウッド、ヤンコビックのヒーローであり師匠でもあるラジオ司会者のドクター・デメント役のレイン・ウィルソンが出演しています。ジュリアナ・ニコルソンとトビー・ハスはそれぞれヤンコビックの母親と父親を演じています。

Rokuが発表したあらすじには、次のように書かれています。

「この伝記映画は“Eat It”や“Like a Surgeon”などの初期のヒット曲で一躍有名になったことから、彼の激烈なセレブの恋愛事情や有名な堕落したライフスタイルまで、彼の人生のあらゆる面を探求しています。『Weird: The Al Yankovic Story』は、天才児から史上最高の音楽的伝説となったヤンコヴィッチの人生とキャリアを、観客が本当に信じられないような旅で紹介します」

ヤンコビックは声明で、「前作『UHF』が公開された1989年、僕は“33年ごとに時計仕掛けのように大作を公開する”とファンに誓った。スケジュールどおりに進んでいることを大変うれしく思うよ。ダニエル・ラドクリフがこの映画で僕を演じてくれることに、とても興奮している。この役が後世の人々の記憶に残る役であることは間違いない」と述べています。
