ルー・リード　「Heroin」の最も古い録音公開　65年5月録音のデモ版

ルー・リード（Lou Reed）の未発表音源をリリースする「ルー・リード・アーカイブ・シリーズ」の第1弾『Words & Music, May 1965』から、「Heroin」の最も古い録音である1965年5月録音のデモ・ヴァージョンが公開されています



「ルー・リード・アーカイブ・シリーズ」は、リイシュー・レーベルのLight in the Atticが、リードの妻ローリー・アンダーソン（Laurie Anderson）と共同で立ち上げたシリーズです。

第1弾『Words & Music, May 1965』は海外で8月26日に発売される予定です。

1965年5月、リードは後にヴェルヴェット・アンダーグラウンド（The Velvet Underground）のバンドメンバーとなるジョン・ケイル（John Cale）の助けを借りて、「Heroin」などの象徴的な曲や他の曲を初めて録音。著作権保護のためにそのデモテープを自分自身に郵送しました。そのテープは50年近くも封印されたまま開封されることなく、まったく聴かれることなく忘れ去られていたのです。

このテープには、「Heroin」と「Pale Blue Eyes」の最も古い録音と、複数の未発表曲も含まれています。ニコ（Nico）のアルバム『Chelsea Girl』の曲「Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams」のケイル・ヴァージョン、リードのアルバム『Berlin』の曲「Men of Good Fortune」の初期ヴァージョン（歌詞が全く異なる未発表ヴァージョン）、「Buttercup Song」、「Too Late」、「Buzz Buzz」なども含まれています。

このテープは、Light in the Atticとローリー・アンダーソンの協力のもと、初めてオリジナルのアナログテープからのリマスターされ、今回、アナログレコード、CD、カセットテープ、8トラック、デジタルといった様々なフォーマットとエディションで発売されます。

アナログレコード2枚組のデラックス・エディションは7,500セット限定で、初期のデモやボブ・ディランの「Don't Think Twice, It's All Right」のカヴァーを含む6曲を収録したボーナス7インチ・レコードも付属されます。

10月7日にはボーナス7インチの6曲を収めたデジタルEP『Gee Whiz, 1958-1964』もリリースされます。
