スパークスのドキュメンタリー映画『The Sparks Brothers』日本公開決定

スパークス（Sparks）のドキュメンタリー映画『The Sparks Brothers』が日本公開決定。2022年公開予定。

監督は『ベイビー・ドライバー』『ショーン・オブ・ザ・デッド』などで知られるエドガー・ライト。

本作はスパークスのロン＆ラッセル・メイル兄弟についてのドキュメンタリー。スパークスの50年にわたる奇妙で素晴らしい貴重なアーカイブ映像、ロンとラッセルの広範なインタビュー、そして、レッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズのフリー、トッド・ラングレン、トニー・ヴィスコンティ、ジョルジオ・モロダー、デュラン・デュラン、ニュー・オーダー、セックス・ピストルズのスティーヴ・ジョーンズ、元スウェードのバーナード・バトラー、アル・ヤンコビック、俳優のマイク・マイヤーズ、ジェイソン・シュワルツマン、作家のニール・ゲイマン、ジェーン・ウィードリンなど多くのコラボレーターや彼らのファンのインタビューをフィーチャーしています。

監督のエドガー・ライトは「ドキュメンタリーをやりたいと思っていた。（マーティン）スコセッシのように、長編映画とドキュメンタリーを両立させている監督にいつも感銘を受けていた。今回、何よりも、友人にスパークスがどれだけ素晴らしいかを語り続けるよりも、映画を作った方が自分にとっては簡単な気がしたんだ。夕食に4時間かけて愛を謳歌するよりも、2時間の映画を作る方が僕には楽なんだよ」と話しています。
