So sad to hear about Pete Shelley. He was a massive influence of mine. The Buzzcocks taught me so much about songwriting, especially in chord structures. R.I.P.https://t.co/rx3nrjs1HO
The very first tour of the US that we ever did was opening for The Buzzcocks in 2003. We want to send our love and condolences to the band and to their families. RIP Pete Shelley and thank you for being so kind to us& for the songs that we'll listen to forever. pic.twitter.com/6lHy9SyeCv
This compilation of Buzzcocks singles is one of my favourite albums. It's 48 minutes of pure punk bliss. You couldn't ask for a finer run of 45's. Please give it a spin right now and remember the huge talent in music that was singer and writer Pete Shelley. He will be missed. pic.twitter.com/nxkyxxJZ9s
Pete Shelley broke a great song down to pure elements. Personally, I first learned how to write songs by immitating buzzcocks songs and their imprint is still in the outlook of every song even to this day. Their catalogue is just banger after banger. Thanks Pete
not been on here for a while, but I can't not mark the passing of Pete Shelley. I love(d) Buzzcocks. His songs were important to me when I was a young man and they still are to me now. Thank you Pete and R.I.P. You will be missed.
So sad to hear of the passing of Pete Shelley, we had the honour of working with him & Howard when we re-released Spiral Scratch a few years ago, Pete and Howard performed together as Buzzkunst around that time, it was a magical thing. Goodnight shy boy https://t.co/l3CNV3CXxE
Saw Pete Shelley with the Buzzcocks in August ‘76 supporting the Clash and the Pistols. First punk band I ever heard/saw and that night they helped to change my life. Pete was one of Britain’s best pure pop writers, up there with Ray Davies. To young to go. So very sad. pic.twitter.com/5HfzUvM5X4
He helped us so much at the start of our career out of a sheer love for all things punk. Without Pete & the Buzzcocks I would probably still be working at the Docks. RIP mate. X
Damn. Pete Shelley gone. The Buzzcocks were and are a favorite of mine, and I was fortunate to be able to hang with Pete a few times and tell him so. R.I.P., Pete. #Buzzcocks
Very difficult to put into words just how influential Pete & Buzzcocks have been, not only on my career (I started playing the drums after seeing Buzzcocks) but on my entire life ever since. Thanks Pete. x (Photo: Todd Fath) pic.twitter.com/6sqCAXNeU0
Shocked to hear of the passing of our good mate Pete Shelley who’s fabulous songs are amongst the catchiest in all of punk rock. We will miss you Pete - love from @damnedtwits, X pic.twitter.com/VJeq4Nh5JR
A sad Goodbye. How many times have I played and loved and related to What do I Get and Ever Fallen in Love. Too young .thank you Pete. pic.twitter.com/gXlVvXSg4p
I am very sad to hear about Pete Shelley’s passing. He was part of the soundtrack of my youth. Cindy and I were lucky enough to see Buzzcocks in Los Angeles a while back. It was excellent, the fire and beauty of those songs was still there. RIP a true poet of punk.
One of the highlights of my life is getting to sit in w/the Buzzcocks in ‘91. I was in the opening band and Mike Joyce didn’t make it to soundcheck. We did “I Don’t Mind” & “Ever Fallen in Love.” Pete was very nice and I was impressed that he soundchecked in his stage clothes.
I am totally shocked and saddened to just hear of the untimely death of Pete Shelley. A superb songwriter, artist and a totally sweet hearted guy who was one of the very few originals of punk and even a one off within that. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. pic.twitter.com/vqYRtYyf1C
Really saddened to hear of the passing of Pete Shelley. Buzzcocks were one of my favourite bands, fantastic pop songs and uit was a true honour to have them play with us this year in Belfast. R.I.P.
Oh God but I loved Buzzcocks. And Pete Shelley was an amazing songwriter. "But after all life's only death's recompense." RI pic.twitter.com/vAAg7Jui52
Hearing sad news about Pete Shelley...He should be remembered forever for the guitar solo in ‘Boredom’ alone. How utterly sad. And that Starway guitar was the punkrockest thing ever! Night night pretty Pete.#Buzzcocks#PeteShelley#Boredompic.twitter.com/kidXO6Tpsr
Very sorry to hear the news about Pete Shelley. Buzzcocks were true innovators and a wonder: they took me to Manchester and were a major part of why I moved there. Here's one of my favourite pictures of him, taken by Linder Sterling in 1976: Punk as fuck pic.twitter.com/hJ1EImCGoU
always felt this buzzcocks song was the most underrated. the guitar interplay is sublime. RIP pete shelley, one of the best there ever was https://t.co/aQwvIJuHeC
