ジェームス・ブラウンのドキュメンタリー『Mr. Dynamite: The Rise Of James Brown』の本編映像の一部が4本公開。

この作品には共同プロデューサーにミック・ジャガー（Mick Jagger）が参加。監督はオスカー受賞歴もあるアレックス・ギブニーが担当しています。

本作は、米国のケーブル・テレビHBOで2014年10月に放送。同時期には、ミック・ジャガーが同じくプロデュース参加したJBの伝記映画『Get On Up』も劇場公開されていますが、これはそれとは別のもの。さまざまな関係者のインタビューやアーカイブ映像を通してJBのキャリアを深く掘り下げた作品です。インタビューには、メイシオ・パーカー、マーサ・ハイ、クライド・スタブルフィールド、ブーツィー・コリンズ、ミック・ジャガーらが登場します。

海外では11月6日にDVD／Blu-rayが発売されています。DVD／Blu-ray版には、本編には使われなかったインタビュー映像や、JBの『ソウル・トレイン』でのパフォーマンス映像などが映像特典として追加。またミック・ジャガーが寄せたエッセイやレア写真などを掲載したブックレットも付属されています。
