アラン・パーソンズ・プロジェクト（The Alan Parsons Project）が1976年にリリースしたデビュー・アルバム『Tales of Mystery and Imagination（邦題：怪奇と幻想の物語）』。発売40周年を記念したボックスセットの内容を説明したボックス開封映像が公開中



この作品は一般流通盤は海外、日本ともに発売中。日本盤のみSHM-CD仕様です。

この作品は、クラウドファンディングサイトのPledgeMusicにてプレオーダーのキャンペーンが実施されていたもの。

ボックスはCD3枚＋Blu-ray1枚＋アナログレコード2枚の6枚組。

CDは、アルバムの1976年オリジナル・ミックスと1987年のリミックスをそれぞれ収めたディスク2枚と、トータル70分を超える未発表音源集ディスクの計3枚。

Blu-rayは、アラン・パーソンズが手がけた今作初の5.1サラウンド・サウンド・ミックスを収録。ミックス作業はキャピトル・スタジオで2016年6月に行われています。

アナログレコード2枚は、アルバムの1976年オリジナル音源を新たにハーフスピード・マスタリングで収録します。ハーフスピード・マスタリングは2016年3月にアビイ・ロードのマイルズ・ショーウェルによって制作されています。

ボックスには、アルバムメイキングを振り返った最新インタビューやアーカイブ写真などを掲載した60ページの大型サイズのブックレットのほか、オリジナル・アルバム・ポスター、1976年プレスキットのレプリカ、ステッカーなども同梱。
