ボックスは海外では180グラム重量盤アナログレコード版（13枚組）も発売されます。

今回オフィシャル・リリースされる『The Gouster（意味：街の洒落た黒人男性）』は、最終的にアルバム『Young Americans』として1975年にリリースされた、フィーリー・ソウルの発祥地であるフィラデルフィアのシグマ・サウンド・スタジオでレコーディングされた作品。当時、フィリー・ソウルに心酔していたボウイは同スタジオでルーサー・ヴァンドロスをはじめとするスタジオ・ミュージシャンらとレコーディング・セッションを行い、アルバム一枚を作るのに十分な楽曲を制作しています。この後、ビートルズ・メンバーがプロジェクトに参加したこともあり、トラックリストが何度も入れ替えられて、最終的に別タイトルのアルバム『Young Americans』としてリリースされています。

今回リリースされる『The Gouster』は、『Young Americans』に変わる前のトラックリストで、『Young Americans』に収録されていない楽曲も収録。当時のプロデューサーであるトニー・ヴィスコンティの監督のもとでオリジナル・テープからマスタリングを行っています。またアルバム・カヴァーは今回のボックスセットのために制作されたヴァージョンで、未発表写真を用いています。

ボックスセット『Who Can I Be Now? (1974 - 1976)』は、2015年に発売されたボックスセット『Five Years (1969 - 1973)』の続編です
