ウィルコ（Wilco）、フレーミング・リップス（The Flaming Lips）、スティーヴン・マルクマス（Stephen Malkmus）、マムフォード＆サンズ（Mumford and Sons）、ボン・イヴェール（Bon Iver）のジャスティン・ヴァーノン（Justin Vernon）、マイ・モーニング・ジャケット（My Morning Jacket）のジム・ジェイムズ（Jim James）、TV On The Radioのトゥンデ・アデビンペ（Tunde Adebimpe）らが参加。

ザ・ナショナルが（The National）のデスナー兄弟が企画したグレイトフル・デッド（Grateful Dead）のトリビュート・アルバム『Day of the Dead』が日本でも発売に。日本盤は6月15日。海外では5月20日に発売されます。リリース元は海外は4AD Records、日本はHostess。海外では限定アナログ・レコード・ボックスセットやデジタル配信も予定されています。

完成まで4年もの歳月を費やした本作には、トータル6時間近くという全59曲をCD5枚に収録しています。
