デヴィッド・ボウイ（David Bowie）の新たなボックスセット『Loving The Alien (1983 - 1988)』から「Zeroes」の2018年ヴァージョンがYouTubeでも公開。このヴァージョンは、このボックスセットにあわせて新たに制作された『Never Let Me Down』の2018年ヴァージョンに収録。また海外で9月7日に発売される7インチ・ピクチャー・ディスク「Zeroes / Beat Of Your Drum」に収録されます

『Loving The Alien (1983 - 1988)』は海外で10月12日発売。リリース元はParlophone Records。

本作は、『FIVE YEARS (1969 - 1973)』『WHO CAN I BE NOW? (1974 - 1976)』『A NEW CAREER IN A NEW TOWN (1977 - 1982)』と続く、ボウイのキャリアを時代ごとに特集するボックスセット・シリーズの第4弾。今回は1983年から1988年を特集しています。CDは11枚組、アナログレコードは15枚組。

ボックスには、この時期にリリースされたスタジオ・アルバム3タイトル『Let’s Dance』（1983年）、『Tonight』（1984年）、『Never Let Me Down』（1987年）のリマスター盤に加え、未発表ライヴ・アルバム2タイトル『Serious Moonlight (Live ’83)』『Glass Spider (Live Montreal ’87)』、『Never Let Me Down』の未発表2018年ヴァージョン、リミックス集『Dance』、そしてアルバム未収録曲や別ヴァージョン、シングルB面曲やサウンドトラック提供曲などを収めたレア音源集『Re:Call 4』が収録されます。

『Never Let Me Down』の未発表2018年ヴァージョンは、ボウイ作品も手がけたプロデューサー／エンジニアのマリオ・マクナルティ（Mario McNulty）が新たに制作を手がけたもので、ボウイのコラボレーターであるリーヴス・ガブレルス（Reeves Gabrels／g）、デヴィッド・トーン（David Torn／g）、スターリン・キャンベル（Sterling Campbell／ds）、ティム・ルフェーヴル（Tim Lefebvre／b）による新たな演奏が加えられています。また作曲家／ピアニストのニコ・マーリーが新たなストリング・アレンジを行い、ローリー・アンダーソン（Laurie Anderson）が「Shining Star (Makin’ My Love)」にゲスト参加しています。

アルバムの新ヴァージョンを制作するという構想は、2008年にデヴィッド・ボウイがマリオ・マクナルティに、「タイム・ウィル・クロール」のリミックスを依頼した時に生まれたものだという。スターリン・キャンベルのドラムを新たにレコーディングし、そこにストリングスを付け加えて完成したこの楽曲のリミックスは、2008年のコンピレーション・アルバム『iSelect』に収録されていますが、その反応に手ごたえを感じたボウイは「アルバムの他の曲も同じようにやり直そう」と考えたそうです。2018年版のレコーディングはニューヨークにあるElectric Lady Studiosで行われています。また、この2018年ヴァージョンには、アートワークにもリミックスが施されており、オリジナル・アートワークのイメージを踏襲しながら、そこに当時のジャケット撮影時の未発表写真（撮影はグレッゴ・ゴーマン）をフィーチャーしたものとなっています。

CDには128ページ、アナログレコードには84ページのハードカバー本を付属。これまでにあまり目にする機会のなかった、もしくは未発表となっていた、デニス・オリーガン、グレッグ・ゴーマン、ハーブ・リッツ他数々の写真家たちのボウイ写真が掲載されている他、ナイル・ロジャースやヒュー・パジャム、マリオ・マクナルティ、ジャスティン・シャーリー・スミスといったプロデューサー／エンジニアによる制作ノートや、当時のプレス・レビューなどが掲載されています。

CDボックス・セットには、ゴールド・カラーのディスクが採用されており、各ディスクはオリジナル・アルバムのアナログ盤を復刻した紙ジャケットに封入されています。また、LPボックス・セットにはCDセットと同内容の作品を、180グラム重量盤アナログに収録しています。
