エリック・クラプトンのドキュメンタリー映画『A Life in 12 Bars』　未発表音源も収めたサントラ発売

エリック・クラプトン（Eric Clapton）の最新ドキュメンタリー映画『Eric Clapton: A Life in 12 Bars』。クラプトンの未発表音源も収めたサウンドトラック・アルバムのCD版が海外で6月8日発売。アナログレコード版は海外で7月20日発売予定。リリース元はUMC。

ドキュメンタリーの監督は、クラプトンが音楽を手がけた1991年の映画『Rush』の監督で、『ドライビング Miss デイジー』の製作などでも知られるリリ・フィニー・ザナック。製作にはジョン・バトセック（『シュガーマン 奇跡に愛された男』他）、編集にはクリス・キング（『AMY エイミー』他）が参加しています。

制作チームは今回の作品を作るにあたって、クラプトンの膨大なパーソナル・アーカイブにアクセスできる権利を得ており、パフォーマンス動画、オン／オフ・ステージ映像、アイコン的な写真、コンサート・ポスター、手書きの手紙と絵、個人的な日記などの資料が与えられています。

映画では、ヤードバーズ（The Yardbirds）、ジョン・メイオール・ブルースブレイカーズ、クリーム（Cream）、ブラインド・フェイス（Blind Faith）、そしてソロと、長年に渡るクラプトンのキャリアを記録。また彼の人生においてトラウマとなった幼少期、アルコールやドラッグへの依存、そして息子の死など、クラプトンの最も波乱に満ちた時期にいかに音楽が救いとなってきたかをも追及しています。

本作ではクラプトンの多くのインタビューが観れるほか、彼の家族や友人、音楽コラボレーター、仲間などのインタビューも収録。これには今は亡きB.B.キングやジョージ・ハリスン、ジミ・ヘンドリックスなども含まれています。

発売が決定したサウンドトラック・アルバム『Eric Clapton - Life In 12 Bars: Soundtrack』にはクラプトンの長年にわたるキャリアの中から厳選した全32曲を収録。CDは2枚組、アナログレコードは4枚組です。

●デレク・アンド・ザ・ドミノス（Derek and the Dominos）「High」 (3.10)
未発表の2ndアルバムのために行われたレコーディング・セッションより。1971年4月にOlympic Studiosで録音。この曲はその後、クラプトンのアルバム『There's One in Every Crowd（邦題：安息の地を求めて）』（1975年）のために再レコーディングされ収録されています。

●デレク・アンド・ザ・ドミノス「Little Wing」(6.11)
1970年10月24日にフィルモアイーストでライヴ・レコーディング。

●エリック・クラプトン「I Shot The Sheriff」(6.54)
1974年のアルバム『461 Ocean Boulevard』に収録され、また全米1位のシングル・ヒットとなったボブ・マーリーのカヴァーの未発表フル・ヴァージョン。

●エリック・クラプトン「Little Queenie live」(6.00)
1974年7月に米カリフォルニア州ロングビーチアリーナでライヴ・レコーディング
